Since coming into the position last summer, Shawnee Mission Superintendent Jim Hinson has made a push for more feedback from the public.
An initiative approved by the board of education on Monday should provide the opportunity for such.
The board unanimously approved an agreement with the firm Patron Insight to conduct a survey of district patrons. The $17,400 contract will include the creation of a survey instrument, the completion of 500 surveys over the phone, and the tabulation of a results and a final report.
The average time to complete the survey will be around 12 minutes. Hinson said Monday that the topics to be included in the survey have yet to be determined, and that the board of education would have input into the survey development.
