Candidates for mayor and city council in Mission have been invited to participate in a debate sponsored by the Northeast Johnson County Chamber of Commerce.
Mission candidates will answer questions at 7 p.m. March 13 at the Sylvester Powell Jr. Community Center
The debate will be held at 7 p.m. March 13 at the Sylvester Powell Jr. Community Center in Mission. The public can submit questions for the candidates by e-mail until noon on March 3. No questions will be taken from the audience on the night of the debate. Questions should be sent to the Chamber at firstname.lastname@example.org. Questions can be specific for the mayoral candidates or individual council wards.
Brian Brown, chair of the Chamber’s government affairs legislative committee will be the moderator who will oversee the debate.
Dave Shepard and Steve Schowengerdt are running for mayor in Mission to succeed Laura McConwell who chose not to seek re-election. Steven Lucas and Jay Meyer are on the ballot in Ward 1 to succeed Lawrence Andre. Arcie Rothrock is challenging incumbent Will Vandenberg in Ward 2, incumbent Debbie Kring is unopposed in Ward 3 and Bill Nichols is challenging incumbent Suzie Gibbs in Ward 4.
