Two Mission police officers were recognized by the city last week for being Good Samaritans to a Good Samaritan.
Officers Matthew Bierbach and Ryan Baylark were cited for their help to Mission resident Clay Phillips. On a cold night with snow on the ground, Phillips was out to deliver meals to a friend who was not able to get out. His truck became stuck after he slid on the slick roads into a ditch.
While he was facing the prospect of waiting two hours in the cold for a tow truck to come, Phillips’ predicament was discovered by Mission police. Bierbach and Baylark actually lifted the back end of his truck to free him and get him on his way. Phillips told the city council that he met a “true Good Samaritan in a blue uniform.”
