Northeast Johnson County residents and Bishop Miege community members this week are remembering Prairie Village resident David Steinberg, the respected head of Bishop Miege’s theatre program.
Steinberg died Dec. 30 of pneumonia. He was 63.
Steinberg was born in Lebanon, Mo., and graduated from Northeast High School in Kansas City. He received an undergraduate degree from UMKC before heading to the California Institute of the Arts, where he took a master’s degree.
A devotee to the performing arts, Steinberg took the helm of Bishop Miege’s theatre program in 1987, and oversaw the production of more than 100 plays and musicals.
A memorial reception will take place in the Bishop Miege chapel Saturday starting at 9 a.m. A memorial service follows starting at 11 a.m.
