Nothing ‘Drowsy’ about 2013 SM East musical, running through Saturday

Share this story:

Janet van de Graff (played by Lily Kaufmann, right) insists she’s ready to give up show business — in less than convincing fashion.

“The Drowsy Chaperone,” SM East’s 2013 musical, hit the stage for its first of four performance Thursday, and, if you’ll forgive a brief bit of editorializing: Wow.

Go see this show. You will not believe these are high school kids.

That is all.

Robert Martin (played by Chase Ainsworth, left) and George (played by Austin Dalgleish, second from right) show off their tap skills with the help of a dance ensemble.
The Man in the Chair (A.J. Orth) serves as an emcee of sorts for the “musical within a comedy.”
