PV councilor Hopkins honored for work on waste management

Prairie Village city councilor Ruth Hopkins has been honored by the Mid-America Regional Council for her work on waste management issues.

At Friday’s MARC Solid Waste Management District annual meeting, Hopkins received the Elected Official Award in recognition of her dedication to waste reduction and recycling.

Hopkins, a city councilor in Prairie Village since 1992, is chair of the Johnson County Solid Waste Management Council and is a liaison on the city’s Environmental and Recycling Committee.
