SM East boys make statement with season-opening soccer shutout

Share this story:

A 10-0 victory that gets called by the mercy rule isn’t a bad way to open the season.

The SM East boys soccer team got the 2012 season off to an emphatic with a knockout victory over Piper High School Tuesday.

Four year varsity letterman and co-captain Tyler Rathbun scored three goals for the Lancers. Junior Noah Eidenmiller added two of his own. Other goals came from Carter Olander, Clint Dunn, Christopher Watkins, Thomas McGillicuddy and Luke Rice.

After winning a pre-season tournament in St. Louis this July, SM East is currently ranked 8th in all of Kansas.

The Lancers take on Park Hill South Thursday at the Blue Valley District Athletic Complex at 5 p.m.
