After three months of renovation following the closing of Jose Pepper’s, Tavern in the Village is set to make its debut Monday, Feb. 28 at 11 a.m.

The restaurant, owned by Prairie Village resident and long-time Kansas City-area restauranteur Kelly Manning, will feature upscale-casual American style cuisine and a kids menu with five items under $5.

The menu was developed by executive chef Lon Froneberger, who has put in previous stints at The Oread in Lawrence, and McCormick & Schmick’s.

A fully stocked bar run by 2007 Kansas City Bartending Competition champion David Smuckler will feature an original drink list. Manning will be involved with day-to-day operations along with general manager Anthony Zarate.

The restaurant will be open 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. weekdays, and will stay open until midnight Fridays and Saturdays. Manning is planning on eventually opening a patio for outside dining.
